If you are thinking of coming to Spain to learn Spanish, it is normal to have many questions
At Hablamos, our Spanish school for foreigners in Madrid, we receive questions every week from students all over the world. Here you will find the answer to the most frequently asked questions. Let’s get started!
Why study Spanish in Spain and not in my country?
Learning Spanish in your country is a good option, but living the language is completely different. In Spain, you will be surrounded by Spanish 24 hours a day: at the supermarket, on public transport, with friends and in class.
At Hablamos, in addition to classes, we encourage our students to practise in real-life situations in Madrid, which greatly accelerates learning.
Why choose Madrid as your destination?
Madrid is a completely safe city brimming with culture. It is the heart of Spain, with excellent transport links and an unrivalled cultural offering.
What’s more, the Spanish spoken in Madrid is considered one of the clearest and most neutral, making it ideal for international students. At Hablamos, we are centrally located, making it easy to combine study and social life.
What type of visa do I need?
It will depend on your nationality and how long you want to stay. Students from the European Union do not need a visa. Students from outside the EU who want to study for more than 90 days will generally need a student visa.
At Hablamos, we provide the necessary documentation to help you with the visa application process. Ask us for more information!
How long will it take me to learn Spanish?
It depends on your initial level, your native language and your dedication. Some students reach a communicative level in just a few months.
At Hablamos, we offer intensive and extensive courses adapted to all levels, and we do a level test before you start to place you in the right group. If you would like more information, you can take our online level test and request an interview with our head of studies.
Where will I live?
Many students choose:
Shared flat
Host family
Student residence
At Hablamos, we advise our students on finding the option that best suits their budget and preferences.
Is Spain a safe country?
Yes, Spain is one of the safest countries in Europe. As in any big city, it is important to take basic precautions, but Madrid is generally very safe for international students.
At Hablamos, we always give practical recommendations so that our students feel at ease from day one.
Will I only learn grammar?
No! Learning Spanish isn’t just about studying rules. At Hablamos, our classes combine conversation, culture, real-life situations, and dynamic activities to make learning practical and fun.
We also organise cultural activities so that students can get to know Spanish culture better.
What if I have never left my country?
It is completely normal to feel nervous. Studying abroad is a transformative experience that will help you grow personally and professionally.
We accompany our students from before their arrival and throughout their stay, creating a close and welcoming environment. You can always count on us if you have any problems, no matter how small!
Is it worth the investment?
Studying in Spain is not just about learning a language, it’s about living an international experience, making friends from all over the world and opening up new job opportunities.
At Hablamos, we believe that learning Spanish is an investment in your future.
How can I get started?
The first step is to find out more and get answers to your questions. You can contact the Hablamos team, take a level test and choose the course that best suits your goals.
